Residence – Morristown, NJ
This ten acre estate is set on the old polo grounds of Hartley Farm, a private enclave outside Morristown, NJ. Hiland H. Turner designed the house and collaborated on the garden with OvS. The entry drive meanders through existing woodland and emerges into a world of meadows and pasture /paddock for horses. The drive terminates in an elliptical forecourt for guests and a walled service court for family and deliveries. Brick and bluestone terraces are organized around the central axis and a large pond-like swimming pool is placed on a secondary axis at the edge of the meadow. Lush plantings and natural materials are used to integrate the design into the larger context of the site.
