ASLA’s Best Books 2016
The American Society of Landscape Architects just released its list of Best Books of 2016 on its blog The Dirt.
At the top of the list are three books celebrating the work of British landscape designer Lancelot “Capability” Brown: Capability Brown and His Landscape Gardens; Capability Brown: Designing the English Landscape; and Moving Heaven and Earth: Capability Brown’s Gift of Landscape. OvS has revisited Brown’s work frequently this year, as OvS Principal Eric Groft toured Brown’s landscapes throughout the British countryside in October.
Frequent OvS collaborator Larry Weaner was recognized for his lushly-photographed reference book on ecological design, Garden Revolution: How Our Landscapes Can Be a Source of Environmental Change.
Also included on the list was Roberto Burle Marx: Brazilian Modernist, the definitive book the influential Brazilian landscape architect, artist, and friend of OvS.
Other books on the list include titles about urban planning, environmental concerns and water infrastructure systems.
