National Public Gardens Week
This week, OvS celebrates National Public Gardens Week, an effort by the American Public Gardens Association (APGA) “to drive local and national exposure to the importance of building vibrant, relevant gardens committed to community enrichment and environmental responsibility through community engagement, sustainable practices, and conversation.”
APGA has a series of resources to help find public gardens, special events, and other instances in which public gardens can emphasize their importance and impact as community resources and catalysts for change and resilience.
OvS has helped shape public gardens world-wide, including The Friendship Garden at the U.S. National Arboretum in Washington, DC; The New York Botanical Garden’s The Azalea and Native Plant Garden; and Chicago Botanic Garden’s Plant Conservation Science Center, Gardens of the Great Basin, Kleinman Family Cove, and Trellis Bridge. In the UK, OvS designed the New American Garden, Phase I of the Museum’s Landscape Master Plan.
