OvS Garden Featured on Garden Conservancy Open Days Self-Guided Tours
An OvS garden in Washington, DC’s Georgetown neighborhood will be included in The Garden Conservancy’s Open Days program.
The garden of the 19th Century town home is barely 17 feet wide – what OvS Founding Principal Jim van Sweden would call a “Railroad Car Garden,” give it’s long, rectangular shape defined by fences. A path of Stoneyhurst flagstone leads to a sculptured millstone-shaped pink granite fountain and eventually a shaded sitting area at the far end of the garden. The garden was designed in collaboration with the owner and reflects both the designer’s and client’s interest in Japanese-style gardens.
Open Days, a signature event of The Garden Conservancy, allows exclusive access to nearly 3,000 private gardens to participants across the country.
