The Battlefield Receives Merit Award for Residential Design by the New Jersey Chapter of ASLA

OvS was honored to receive a Merit Award in Residential Design from the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects for our work at The Battlefield in Morristown, New Jersey. Nestled within the historic estate and working farm community of Hartley Farms, The Battlefield is set within a substantial meadow that was preserved but carefully amended to respect the site’s notable history. A nod to the meadow’s Country Place Era use as a recreational and play space where epic but mock ‘battles’ would occur, The Battlefield is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was once home to the Rockefeller Dodge family estate and the Morris & Essex Dog Show. The property’s heritage brought even more gravitas to a supremely magnificent tract of land with rolling topography and old growth beech and oak forest.
