On Wednesday, September 17, OvS hosted a UVa alumni event to honor the nomination of the School of Architecture’s new dean, Elizabeth Meyer. In attendance were School of Architecture professors Nancy Takahashi and Earl Mark, along with Associate Dean for Development Scott Karr.
Eric Groft Lectures at Metro Hort Group’s September Meeting
Eric Groft encouraged gardeners at Metro Hort Group to pick up their paint brushes and get inspired by art in his lecture The Artful Garden: Creative Inspiration for Landscape Design at the Arsenal in Central Park. Dagni Senzel, who serves on the Board of Metro Hort, complimented Eric on the talk’s ‘fresh approach” of looking at design through the lens of artist’s quotations.

A New Addition to OvS
OvS is delighted to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Justin Maglione, our Marketing & Communications Coordinator, and his lovely wife Beth, on the arrival of their first child. Max Franklin Maglione was born on September 5, 2014.

The Rededication of the German-American Friendship Garden
On Friday, April 11th, Oehme, van Sweden & Associates, Inc. was honored to participate in the Rededication Ceremony for the German-American Friendship Garden on the National Mall. Lisa Delplace and Stacilyn Feldman joined German Ambassador Peter Ammon, as well as Robert Vogel, the Superintendent of the National Mall and Memorial Parks, and dozens of guests at the Garden for a ceremony and celebration.

ASLA Invests Eric D. Groft In The Council of Fellows
On the evening of November 17, 2013, OvS Principal Eric D. Groft was invested in the American Society of Landscape Architects Council of Fellows. The Investiture Ceremony was held in Boston on the last evening of the yearly ASLA convention and was a black tie affair bringing together new Fellows with those who have received the award in past years.
The 30th Anniversary of the German-American Friendship Garden
The German-American Friendship Garden was originally designed in 1983 by OvS Founding Principal Wolfgang Oehme. The Garden held a special place in Wolfgang’s heart, as it celebrates the special relationship between his native Germany and his adoptive home, the United States.
