OvS Principal Eric Groft and clients Barbara Slifka and Susan Guillia joined Long Island conservation-minded benefactors at Through Farms and Fields, an event hosted by the Peconic Land Trust (PLC) at Quail Hill Farm in Amagansett, NY. Eric enjoyed a dinner sourced from local farms with John Halsey, PLC President and Founder, and his mother Emily Halsey.

Memorial Service for Ambassador F. Haydn Williams
OvS Principal Sheila Brady recently attended the memorial service for Ambassador F. Haydn Williams at the National World War II Memorial. Williams, the founder and chairman emeritus of the Friends of the National World War II Memorial, worked closely with Sheila on the firm’s landscape architectural design at the Memorial.

The New American Garden: The Landscape of Oehme, van Sweden, the exhibition curated by The Cultural Landscape Foundation, is on display at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust (PCT) now through August 26, 2016. The exhibition is sponsored by the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy (PPC).
Old Friends and New Plants at the NYBG Antique Garden Furniture Fair
OvS Principals Sheila Brady and Eric Groft, together with OvS designer Lili Herrera, attended the Preview Party and Collectors’ Plant Sale for the New York Botanical Garden’s (NYBG) 25th Annual Antique Garden Furniture Fair last weekend.
The New American Garden: The Landscape Architecture of Oehme, van Sweden closes on May 1 at the National Building Museum. The museum, in collaboration with The Cultural Landscape Foundation, has been host to a wide breadth of OvS’ archival materials and photographs that illustrate the broad arc of landscape design: from inspiration and development, to implementation and the ongoing changes that are a part of a living landscape. Conceived to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the book Bold Romantic Gardens: The New World Landscapes of Oehme, van Sweden, the exhibition will go on tour across the country and include stops in Pittsburgh, Baton Rouge, and Baltimore.

Eric Groft attends UVA A-School Reunion
OvS Principal Eric Groft recently attended an alumni weekend at the University of Virginia’s School of Architecture Department of Landscape Architecture. For Eric, the highlight was the opportunity to reconnect with mentor Dan Wenk, now superintendent of Yellowstone National Park.
TCLF Launches What’s Out There Houston Microsite
OvS Principal Eric Groft attended the What’s Out There Houston Weekend organized by The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF), of which he is a board member. Nearly 1500 participants took part in two days of free tours of some 35 sites that showcase the diverse landscape legacy of designed and natural spaces in the United State’s fourth largest city. TCLF ‘s website now features a microsite that provides in-depth exploration of the city’s green spaces.
Washington City Paper on Pershing Park Re-Design
The Washington City Paper architecture columnist recently wrote about plans to redesign Pershing Park, a park planned and designed by modernist architect Paul M. Friedberg with plantings designed by OvS in the 1980’s.
