Blue Heron Pond Road
Kiawah Island, SC

[fusion_builder_column type=”2_3″ last=”no” spacing=”yes” padding=”” background_color=””]
This eleven-acre lowland retreat in Kiawah, South Carolina, is steeped in southern tradition and inspired by the tranquil nature of the surrounding tidal marshes. Lush plantings embrace the house and its broad verandas while framing stunning vistas of the inter-coastal waterways and tidal marsh.

As in most coastal areas, the house is elevated above the flood zone posing a challenge to the landscape architects. To marry the house to the landscape, a series of raised planters was devised to connect the house to the ground plane. Carefully selected plants and trees firmly anchor the residence to its natural setting.
