Winter Work for Spring Blooms

Now is the time to to cut back your garden’s herbaceous materials and put down fresh mulch.

Your garden should be cleaned up for spring time during the cold weather months – while the earth is still firm

This is also the time of year when your gardener’s schedule starts to fill, so it’s advisable to schedule a clean-up if you have not already.

OvS’ Capitol Hill garden recently underwent a mid-winters ‘reset.’ Thirty bags of mulch and sharp clippers transformed the garden. Be measured with your clippers and generous with mulch.  Plants have begun to pushing up early because of the warmer winter, but their tender foliage may get burned in an upcoming frost. The extra layer of insulation will protect them.
